The European Federation of Lighter Manufacturers is in favour of the new child-resistant Decision for lighters sold in Europe.
This Decision rules that:
- the ISO 9994 Lighter safety standard is now mandatory;
- from March 11, 2008, consumers will be able to buy only child-resistant lighters;
- novelty lighters are now forbidden.
The European Federation of Lighter Manufacturers works jointly with the European Commission and the Member States in order to ensure in the future that European consumers only find on the market lighters complying with the ISO 9994 safety standard and the new Child Resistant standard. |
