How to Shave |
After Shaving
Key to a Perfect Shave is Preparation
|
| 1. |
Its best to shave in the morning. Your skin has been resting for the night. |
| 2. |
Wash your face. Try not to shave without having your skin perfectly clean. This will help prevent infection or bumps. |
| 3. |
Apply hot water or shave after the shower. Warm humidity increases skin elasticity and softens your beard. Hot water actually diminishes hair toughness, which can increase blade longevity. Wet hair is easier to shave. |
| 4. |
Apply shaving cream or gel. Apply a uniform layer of shaving cream or gel on your face in a circular motion, going back and forth over the skin and against the grain. This softens your hair, smooths the skin and lifts your hair, allowing a closer, less irritating shave.

How to Shave
|
| 1. |
Use both hands. One to hold the shaver, the other to pull/stretch the skin. If you dont succeed in stretching your skin with the other hand, try grimacing. Well-stretched skin will not be pinched by the blades. |
| 2. |
Go with the grain first. To prevent skin damage and razor burn, try to start shaving in the direction of hair growth. Once have removed most of the hairs, you can finish your shave by passing again against the grain to achieve a closer shave. Remember also that hair does not grow in the same direction on the cheeks as on the neck and chin. Draw your hand over your face to feel the direction of the hair growth. |
| 3. |
Control your moves. Be careful not to press too hard on the blade or you could damage your skin. |
| 4. |
Shave with short strokes. This will allow you to be more precise and will be less irritating to your skin. |
| 5. |
Remember not to waste water, but always rinse your shaver briefly in hot running water when you are finished shaving. Simply shaking the blade in the sink is less productive and less hygienic.

After Shaving
|
| 1. |
Rinse your face with cold water. Finish by rinsing off excess cream with cold water. Cold water is very important as it closes your skins pores and reduces razor burn. |
| 2. |
Sooth and hydrate your skin. After shaving, the skin is both dry and irritated. Apply an alcohol-free after-shave to re-moisturize your skin and avoid the feeling of razor burn. |
