BREAK POVERTY FOUNDATION:
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
NGO Name: Break Poverty Foundation
Pillar: Fight Against School Dropout
Funding Period: 2020
The COVID-19 pandemic has increased inequality in access to education, and access to homeschooling is impossible for families lacking the necessary technology and parental support. To address this crisis, the Break Poverty Foundation has launched a program to provide 10,000 vulnerable children with computers and internet connection in order to decrease school dropouts.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
#Connexion d'Urgence works to provide laptops and internet access so students can successfully learn at home. The program specifically benefits children and adolescents ages six through 18 who mostly live below the poverty line. The Break Poverty Foundation identifies these children with assistance from partner organizations and child protective services. Then, with partners' assistance, they mobilize volunteers to assist children with their homework.
IN THEIR OWN WORDS
"Thank you so much for this computer. It will help me doing my home-work. Until now, I was relying on my mobile phone to connect to school and do my home-work, it was really tough. Now that I have a computer, it is far easier to work from home. It helps me so much ! Thank you and take care !”
